calling all faith warriors….

September 26, 2008 at 10:51 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 6 Comments

There are so many details in this journey.   And so many of them still don’t have any solid underpinings yet.   We’re trying to ‘preach to ourselves’ but truth is, it’s hard to have confidence when there are obstacles at every turn.   I feel like the situation is “Gideon-like’.    Ridiculous odds, ridiculous resources, and ridiculous man power.     Going up against a foe that out-does them in every category.    Sometimes I think that either this thing is going to completely go up in flames or else God is just setting the stage to really show off with just how amazing He is wiling to be.

anybody have some stories that would speak well into this?  Anyone want to pass on some encouragement or verses to (hopefully) strengthen our faith?

  1. I am putting finishing touches on our preschool Sunday school lesson for tomorrow. Our Foundation Verse is simple but true, “Trust in the Lord with all you heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths” Proverbs 3:5-6

  2. This one is outside of the “adoption” category, but it definitely fits the “ridiculous odds, resources, and man power” description.
When I was a kid growing up in the Philippines, my family knew a native pastor in a remote mountain village. At that time there was a 9-month drought in the area, causing all the water sources to dry up. One of the pastor’s grown sons felt the Lord prompting him to start digging in a certain spot. Alone, he dug into rocky ground with only a long iron bar. After several days, he was ready to give up. He threw the bar on the ground, it struck a rock, and you guess it, water came gushing out–enough to carry the village through till rain came.
Praying for you guys and hoping in Christ!

  3. Hi Lisa,
To encourage you I think of Eph 3:20-21 “Now to Him who IS able to do FAR MORE ABUNDANTLY than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throught all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
You also might want to listen to a sermon Pastor David Micheal gave on Eph 3 14-21. I beleieve it was back in 06. If you have trouble finding it, just let me know and I will give you my CD of it.
May God fill you with faith and hope and love as you wait.
    Love and prayers, Carol

  4. Tague and Lisa,
We have your family on our prayer board and have been praying for all (9) of you! I wanted to share with you a verse that I have spent much time meditating on this past year.

    Roman 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Mike and I often have the song in our heads and feel compelled to sing this truth in the morning as we begin our day…”Savior, He can move the mountains, My God is mighty to save…” You guys have many “mountains” before you and our God is mighty and can move each and everyone of them.

Trusting, waiting and hoping with you.
    Jolee

  5. Galatians 6:9…Do not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

You are seeking to change lives and no great thing can be done the easy way. This verse also reminds me of your prayer list point regarding timing. That the timing be sweet, and that it be His. Love you.

    Evelyn

  6. Psalm 118:13-17

I was pushed back and about to fall, but the LORD helped me. The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.

Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous:”The LORD’s right hand has done mighty things!

The LORD’s right hand is lifted high; the LORD’s right hand has done mighty things!”

I will not die but live, and proclaim what the LORD has done.

Praying that your strength and faith will increase with each passing day,
    Jolee
